We’re pleased to announce that Lumina Technologies has joined Engineering Supply Chain UK (ESCUK), part of the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) cluster.
For anyone who knows us, this won’t come as a surprise. We’ve spent years building deep expertise in IT and cyber security for engineering and precision manufacturing firms — from securing legacy CNC machines through network segmentation, to helping machining shops achieve Cyber Essentials certification without disrupting production.
Joining ESCUK means that IT and cyber security now has a seat at the engineering supply chain table. And after years of keeping engineering firms operating, secure, and compliant, it’s great to be officially recognised as an integral part of the supply chain — not just serving it from the outside, but belonging to it.
Why This Matters
Engineering supply chains are under increasing pressure to demonstrate their cyber security maturity. Tier 1 aerospace and defence clients are requiring Cyber Essentials certification from their suppliers. Supply chain audits are becoming routine. The days of security being optional for engineering firms are over.
But most IT providers don’t understand the realities of engineering environments. They don’t know the difference between supporting an accountancy practice and supporting a precision manufacturing firm running legacy Fanuc controllers, CAD/CAM workstations, and shop floor machines on operating systems from the 1990s. They treat every business the same — and engineering firms deserve better.
That’s the gap we fill. And it’s why joining ESCUK felt like such a natural step.
What This Means for the Engineering Community
Being part of ESCUK means we’re not just serving the engineering supply chain — we’re part of it. We’ll be contributing to the community through thought leadership, webinars, and practical guidance on the cyber security challenges facing UK manufacturing.
If you’re an engineering or manufacturing firm looking at Cyber Essentials requirements, dealing with legacy machine security challenges, or simply looking for an IT provider that understands your environment — we’d welcome a conversation.
